Area Information
The prefecture of Chania offers tourism services and activities of all kinds covering all demands. The city of Chania preserves all the features of the Venetian rule times. The White Mountains (Lefka Ori), rising behind the city and diving south in the Livikon Pelagos in the area of Sfakia, consist of numerous gorges for nature-lovers and enthousiastic mountaineers. The sandy beaches and the deep clear waters in them (Elafonissi, Falassarna, Paleochora, Georgioupoli, etc) are ideal for swimming. The minoan, roman and byzantine archaeologocial sites are tempting for those interested in cultural and historical explorations.
Travel Information
Chania is about 1 hour (59km) long from Rethimnon and 21/2 hours (137km) long from Iraklion. It is easily accessible from Athens by three regular flights a day (45 minutes) during winter and four during summer. The International Airport is located 11km outside the city on Akrotiri. There are also two daily boats from Piraeus (Athens) to Souda (Chania).

Because the beach is not so nice, sand and stone on the beach, it goes very stepp in to the sea. The garden with pool an free lies very clean and sufficient. We book an appartment with little kitchen. The kitchen is clean und sufficient fitted. In the near of the hotel ist a big shopping markt. Parking is free and from chania airport you drive 30 minutes with the car. I would book the hotel again at any time. | 2 |

The location away from the hustle and bustle of Platanias itself but very near to the New Road and directly adjacent to the shore is really excellent. The breakfast buffet is awesome. Rooms are rather average but acceptable. In my opinion, though, some bits and bobs should be improved: Why is there no plug socket inside the bathroom? Why are parts of the furniture so run-down? Booking procedure not well conceived: you give all your data (credit card etc) and you think you have made a reservation, only to find out too late (by e-mail) that you have only asked for one and that your request awaits confirmation!
